The City of Glendale (population 191,586) is the fourth-largest city in Los Angeles County. Glendale Water & Power (GWP) is a municipal utility that serves over 34,000 water customers. The Water Services Division of GWP is comprised of four units: Water Engineering, Water Operation, Water Distribution, and Water Quality. The Principal Civil Engineer in the Water Engineering Section takes the lead on planning, organizing, and managing a team of talented engineers and project managers.

GWP seeks a technically strong and collaborative leader with deep expertise in water infrastructure design and construction. Experience managing complex capital projects and providing steady, confident guidance to engineering and project teams is essential. The ideal candidate for this role will communicate clearly and effectively, supporting team growth by offering guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities.

Competitive candidates will offer eight years of professional experience in civil engineering, including four years in a responsible supervisory capacity in water utility projects. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field and registration as a Professional Civil Engineer with the State of California are required.

Salary goes up to $179,125.08 (+4% increase eff. 6/29/25) DOQE, supplemented by attractive benefits. Closes at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2025.
